Privacy policy
Information we collect
Reader Tab is committed to protecting your privacy. This extension operates entirely locally on your device and does not collect, transmit, or store personal data on external servers.
The extension stores your preferences and selected RSS feeds locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API. This data never leaves your device.
Data storage
All data related to your feed subscriptions, reading preferences, and settings is stored locally using Chrome's sync storage. This data may sync across your Chrome browsers if you're signed into Chrome, but it's handled entirely by Google's infrastructure and we have no access to it.
Third-party services
Reader Tab fetches RSS feeds directly from the sources you choose to subscribe to. When you add a feed, the extension will make requests to that feed's server to retrieve articles. This is standard RSS reader behavior.
We use Google's Favicon service to display feed icons. This service is provided by Google and subject to their privacy policy.
Permissions
Reader Tab requires the following Chrome permissions:
- •storage: To save your feed preferences and settings locally
- •tabs: To display your news feed when you open a new tab
These permissions are used solely for the functionality described and not for any data collection purposes.
Analytics
Reader Tab does not use any analytics, tracking, or telemetry services. We don't know who uses the extension or how it's being used.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
